“Ranga!” he yelled, I looked around confused at first, yet deep in my subconscious I knew, he was yelling…at me.
Ranga is short for Orangutan and used as a nickname for us redhead’s in Australia and New Zealand. Although not exactly meant as a compliment, I decided in that moment, to stand proud and embrace my Ranga-ness!
When I later discovered Orangutans are on the verge of extinction I asked “What can a ginger New Zealander currently living in Mexico do to help?” The answer: Make an infused ginger Tequila to bring awareness and funding to help the Orangutan’s plight.
